About Living Room Choir:

Mission and History

Living Room Choir is a culture of joy, stress-reduction, and meaningful connection with self and others.

Living Room Choir is part of the international Ubuntu Choirs Network. It was started in 2015 by Kaitie Ty Warren* and Co-Led by Sara Stutz. Our goal is to create a safe, holistic, musical space of harmony – between one another, in our hearts, and with our voices. Inclusion is key: not only for all parts of ourselves, but for each other, regardless of background, age, creed, ability, race, and other identifications. We value diversity and expression. Our concerts range in size, are gifts to the community, and we always get the audience singing. We like to partner with local musicians and other local choirs, seeing fellow singing groups as allies, to be greeted like neighbors. In community, as the song by I-cheie Greentree says, we will lift each other up, higher and higher.

About Katie Sontag & her Community Singing:

Community singing has been used in many cultures to gather, grieve, celebrate and experience life for centuries. Today, we come together to revive this tradition in the world we find ourselves in now with songs born from within our community. Katie will teach songs call and response in a circle un-amplified. This is a secular space focused on songs that nourish and support a sense of community, belonging, and self love. There will be rounds, songs with different parts, harmonies and unison with any and all voices embraced, celebrated and welcomed. No experience necessary

Katie Sontag (she/her) writes and teaches nourishing songs that celebrate self love and remind us that all feelings are welcome. At Katie’s song circles, you will laugh, cry, make new friends, and leave feeling better than when you came. Her music has been described as "a big hug." Katie’s songs have traveled all over the country. She is also a singer/songwriter and a seasoned performer living in Eugene OR with her 4 year old.
