The Love Note Duo weave soulful songwriting with jazz and argentinan folk inspired bass playing. Singer/songwriter Katie Sontag's alto voice complements and bass player, Jon Brex's elaborate string arrangements to create music that warms the heart and keeps listeners on their feet. Based out of Eugene OR, Katie and Jon play venues such as the Oregon Country Fair, NW Folk Life Seattle as well as bars, wineries and beautiful house concerts and backyard venues. Katie's songs are uplifting, thoughtful, light, "transcendental folk." Katie and Jon also have a daughter together, Calliope, who they hope will someday join the band too.
Katie Sontag writes songs that are honest and vulnerable. Her vocals, lyrics, and melodic lines capture audiences and takes them on an intimate journey. Her unique performance style combines singer/songwriter with song leader making for an engaging and interactive performance. At Katie's show you will laugh, cry, and make new friends. Her music has been described as "a big hug." She recently released her self produced album Still Breathing in February 2020 and released her first album with collaboration with her first band Temple Under the Stars in 2018.
