Music making is for us all.
Along with so many other things, our current society has corrupted the joy of music making by believing only a high. and mighty few super skilled individuals are worthy of the joy and art of music creation. But this is bogus! We are all born with the ability to sing and play. Our Community Folk Choir returns to this truth over and over, rewiring our brains and healing our traumatized voices together through genuine love, care and fun!
Our songs remind us of our true birthright as singers.
Some of us are seasoned singers who love to create our own harmonies. Some of us are complete beginners finding our voice for the first time. We sing along side each other and welcome our authentic voices, embracing the beauty that is our sound. Katie’s skill, warmth and authenticity guide the group into making harmonious music together .
We sing together and we grow together.
Our Community Folk Choir allows for experimentation and growth. Sometimes we improvise, sometimes we write songs together or make up our own harmonies. Katie attunes to the group as it is and caters the experience to their needs at that time. Just like the changing of the seasons, each series we sing different songs and grow in different ways. The more we sing and hear each other, the more we evolve in our musicianship as individuals and as a group entity.
Sing with Us This Fall!
The series allows for the group to dive deep with each other, both into the songs and also into the experience of group singing. Singing together is a bonding experience that fosters kindness, authenticity and hope. With everyone’s commitment to the group comes stability. A container can be built that allows beauty, trust and goodness to bloom. We then celebrate together at the end of season Song Soiree by inviting the larger community to join us.

The Choir meets on Sunday afternoon and Tuesday evenings. This allows for flexibility in your schedule.
Perhaps one week you come day, one week you come Sundays, and one week you come to both! You are in no way “required” to come to both, or even every week, but you are most WELCOME to come as many times as you are able. Ideally, you would plan on coming at least once a week, but if things come up (sickness, travel etc) you will always be welcomed back into the group and we will catch you up on anything you’ve missed.
Signing up for the series allows you to invite a friend anytime. We ask that they contribute a drop-in fee of $15- $35 each time they attend. No one will be turned away for lack of funds. If they think they might want to join the group they are welcome to try it for free!

Please contribute the highest end of the scale that you are able to. Consider this akin to a yoga class or gym membership. Your investment and commitment makes this experience possible

Why We Do it This Way
We ask folks to commit ahead of time financially to ensure we can cover our venue costs. We then offer Katie a small stipend for her time, skill and on-going education, as well as compensating the songwriters for the songs we sing, paying for advertising and promoting to grow the choir, and a scholarship fund for those who are unable to contribute financially. If you’re interested in more transparency in the financial aspect of this group, please reach out to Katie directly.
If you commit to the series with every intention of participating whole heartedly and something comes up such as illness, emergencies or some other unpredictable change, Katie will do her best to either refund you or credit you to the next season.
