COME SING!

Our Community Folk Choir is about experiencing the goodness and connection that is making music together! If you LOVE TO SING, want to make new friends, and  feel authentically connected and uplifted through music, this experience is for you!

Over the course of our time together we  deep dive into 12- 20  songs that focus on connection to self, community and uphold basic values of kindness, authenticity, and feeling deeply (among other things).  Katie’s originals are the backbone of our repertoire. She also brings songs from her many travels  - songleading all along  the West Coast and leading at singing gatherings.

All songs are taught by ear with lyric sheets available. Occasionally Katie incorporates sheet music as needed but reading sheet music is not a requirement.

Our Community Folk Choir allows for experimentation and growth. The more we sing and hear each other, the more we progress in our musicianship both as individuals and as a group entity. We sing together and we grow together.

Community SONG & Snack SOIREE

July 26 2pm - 4pm

Eugene Garden Club

This is an event that is open for drop in - for us and our loved ones, and also for the wider community so we can share our joy of singing (and maybe convert some folks too!)

Childcare and kids zone will be at this event!

The Choir meets both on Thursdays and Tuesday. This allows for flexibility in your schedule. Perhaps one week you come Tuesday, one week you come Thursdays, and one week you come to both! You are in no way “required” to come to both, or even every week, but you are most WELCOME to come as many times as you are able. Ideally, you would plan on coming at least once a week, but if things come up (sickness, travel etc) you will always be welcomed back into the group and we will catch you up on anything you’ve missed.

Our last session, Sunday July 26, will be our *Song Soiree!* You are welcome to invite friends and family so we can spread the joy of singing together!

Singing is our birthright. It is for all of us. Let’s create together and sing ourselves alive!

Join us for an afternoon of group singing and snacking! This is in celebration of Our Community Folk Choir's summer singing series!

Join us for a joyous afternoon of singing and snacking!

We gather together to sing in the summertime to honor the cycles of life within and outside ourselves. This afternoon in late July we will be inside (bc it will probably be very hot outside) with our whole selves and our authentic voices. We will sing easy to learn songs in community that Our Community Folk Choir have been singing this summer and celebrate! (You don't have to be involved in the choir to attend - you are welcome!!)

Singing:

Our singing is based on the philosphy that ALL PEOPLE CAN SING! We do not judge our voices based on the typical standards of what is "beautiful" or "right" - we come together to overthrow the colonization of our voices and to rebel against the idea that music is only for "performance." NO! Music is for US ALL! Regardless of skill, experience or anything that comes between ourselves and our voices. We sing songs that empower and support a sense of true self-worth and connection. We weclome all faith traditions and although some songs are based in Earth spirituality, we are a secular community and not at all religious.

Snacking:

We love to snack! Bring a snack to share if it is joyous and easy! Snacking is not required to participate in singing!

Childcare:

This event is all ages and includes a kids area and childcare! Children are welcome to join us in song as their whole selves. Parents are required to care for their children's bodily needs (potty & food) but they will have a lot of help from our childcare team!

Reciprocity

We are asking for $15 - 30 donation to attend the event. This helps offset childcare and venue costs.

If this is not possible for you, please reach out to Katiesontagmusic@gmail.com and we can create other opportunities for reciprocity that work for you.
